We call this role “Website Optimization Manager” but it’s much more than just running A/B and multivariate tests.

At its core, this role is responsible for helping educate and engage our 125,000+ monthly website visitors about Scribe Media’s mission: helping everyone on earth write, publish, and market their book.

Success in this role will literally help people overcome the hurdles of writing and publishing their book, and bring new ideas into the world that’ll help the people the book seeks to serve. And, of course, continue to level up Scribe’s web presence and digital experience.

There are two primary buckets of responsibilities in this role. They are different, but are equally critical to the success of the person that assumes this role:

As the “Web Project Manager” part of this role, you will:

  • Work closely with and coordinate projects with our web development team, and all involved parties and stakeholders
  • Own the maintenance, improvements, and oversee the development of all current and future Scribe web properties (there’s 7 of them today with scribemedia.com being the star, with plans to add 2-3 microsites in the next 12 months)
  • Clearly define and enforce best practices for web development and optimization efforts, including build process and management, methodical testing, visitor UX, etc.
  • Oversee our SEO strategy, as it relates to link building and on-page optimization
  • Own all web development-related meetings, processes, and documentation
  • Always be thinking about the website visitor, and how we can be relentlessly user-focused and provide the best possible experiences

As the “Conversion Rate Optimizer” part of this role, you will:

  • Obsess over making an impact and driving results with data-driven decisions
  • Analyze website and landing page performance, provide regular reporting and insights and find ways to improve conversion rates
  • Develop, implement, and analyze A/B split and multivariate testing scenarios for landing pages and popular content pages on the website(s)
  • Assist in ideating, building, and optimizing our marketing funnels
  • Develop our conversational marketing strategy (aka AI-based “live” chat)
  • Love living in a world of data, analytics, and reporting to drive plans. If Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools aren't your best friend, this likely isn’t the role for you.

Note that we have a dedicated designer, analyst, and web development team already in place, so you’ll be fully supported in your work so you can focus on strategic growth, instead of just technical implementation (although that may be necessary from time-to-time).

By virtue of your position, you will learn everything about how the marketing department works. This is not a siloed position.

Though you will begin your Scribe Career in this role, we expect you to eventually outgrow this role. When that happens, you’ll move into whatever role in the department you are best suited for.

We're still small (less than 6 people in the marketing division, but growing rapidly), so this could lead to you heading up entire departments. We have no problem fast-tracking people who work hard and produce results.

We have multiple ways we help people do this. We can edit and publish an already written manuscript (Scribe Publishing), or we can help people write their book using a structured process with our guidance (Scribe Guided Author), or we can do a structured interview process that gets the book out of them in their words and their voice (Scribe Professional).

Our company was started because a frustrated entrepreneur wanted to put all of her incredible knowledge and ideas into a book, but didn't have the time to write it or the patience to deal with the frustrating publishing process. So we solved her problem. The origin story is here.

  • Enthusiastic Learner: We will be solving new and complex problems together in this role. Our marketing strategies are multi-faceted and require lots of crucial planning, mapping and manipulating (in a good way) technology and tools to achieve our goals. That often means we need to teach ourselves new skills by conducting research or connecting with outside experts in order to drive forward our results. The idea of learning new things with a large degree of autonomy and working outside of your comfort zone should absolutely thrill you, rather than terrify you.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in web project management (like WordPress website builds), SEO, and Google Analytics
  • 2+ years of full funnel CRO experience, A/B testing experience, etc.
  • Proficient with the usual tech: WordPress, Google Optimize, Analytics, Tag Manager, Webmaster Tools, Hotjar, Unbounce, Drift, etc.
