We call this role “Principal Author Success Manager,” but the best way to think about this role is a mash-up of 'Luxury Concierge” and “Client Advocate.”

You're a Luxury Concierge in the sense that you're responsible for serving and leading our authors through their book creation and publishing process. You’ll do this by setting expectations early and often, proactively communicating updates, and providing the author with a professional luxury experience. You'll work with a Project Team to keep track of these complex projects with lots of moving parts. Your job is to ensure that every author you work with has a flawless experience with Scribe Media and always knows what’s coming next.

You're a Client Advocate in the sense that you are a true service professional. This is not a role for someone new to client communication. Our clients are our authors. You will be communicating with authors who are very successful, with complicated projects, and lots of different personalities. As an expert, you’ll build individual relationships with each author to ensure they trust Scribe Media and publish the book they want. You are the author’s advocate, leader, and advisor on their publishing journey.

The authors you’ll work with will each bring their own complexities. Many will be VIP, high profile clients. Others will be escalated clients that we need to bring in the expert to lead to the finish line.

Ultimately, your job is to do all of the author-facing communication for these projects while curating an impeccable experience for our authors.

Here’s how it works:

The moment the author signs with us, you take over all communication with them. You’re their main point of contact and their leader through their book journey. You’ll work directly with a Project Manager to ensure each part of the project exceeds the author’s expectations and is in their best interest. You own the relationship with the author, all the way to the final result—which is ensuring we produce a book the author is proud of.

These are some examples of tasks you'll be doing every day:

  • Be the go-to for authors who may be escalated and need more specialized support. You will need to remain professional and thoughtful in high-stress conversations and address each author’s needs individually.
  • Proactively and professionally communicate expectations to your authors so they always know what to expect and what's needed from them. Serve as the primary example for what a professional, luxury author experience looks like at Scribe with deep mastery and fluidity in understanding people and impeccably communicating with them.
  • Review all project details to decide how to best communicate with an author: maybe it’s a video call, a phone call, a text or email. Take decisive actions surrounding how to best communicate with each author in a timely manner with excellent attention to detail.
  • Work with the Project Team to ensure all work on the book (writing, design, etc) reflects the author’s voice and intent. (You will not be writing or editing the manuscript yourself).
  • Help authors solve any problems that come up on a day-to-day basis—questions about audiobooks, marketing, issues with cover design, print run delays, and any other problems that come up. Solve problems, answer questions, and make strong decisions completely independently with positive outcomes.
  • Ensure your author’s book is always moving forward on schedule. Take time to deeply understand each author to curate a bespoke experience that addresses each author's unique needs and solves problems in a complete and meaningful way.
  • Sometimes you will have to help authors address fears or anxieties that may arise. Publishing a book is a big deal for people, and sometimes that requires some emotional support, as well as publishing support.

You're the communication boss of the book process. You do everything necessary to communicate with the author to ensure they’re proud of their book and that it’s completed on time and on budget.

And it's important to note: you'll be doing this with dozens of authors at once (who are at all different stages of the process).
